Field visit undertaken to Silkoti and Jaripani cluster villages, Tehri Garhwal — 20th July 2026

A field visit was undertaken on 20th July 2026 to Silkoti and other villages in the Jaripani cluster, Tehri Garhwal district, as part of the data collection exercise under the Phase II project supported by Himmotthan under the Himalayan Water Partnership, on traditional water use and supplementary irrigation in dryland agriculture in the Uttarakhand Himalayas.

Capsicum, grown primarily under Kharif conditions in the area, showed excellent vegetative growth and fruiting. Some waterlogging was observed in patches of clayey soil. The mulching and drip irrigation trials had a significant positive impact during the extended dry season prior to the onset of monsoons.
