The Story Behind The Eco Edit

The Eco Edit grew out of a natural progression in Vandana’s creative journey, one that began with photography and gradually developed into a deeper engagement with nature, plants and design.

Vandana has been a professional photographer for over 24 years, working across a diverse range of editorial and commissioned assignments. Her photographs have appeared in national and international journals, and she has photographed profiles of eminent personalities. Her work has also been presented through several solo and group exhibitions, including the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival.

Photography has shaped much of the way Vandana approaches her work. It has given her an appreciation for observation, composition, light, colour and detail, but more importantly, it has encouraged her to look closely at the world around her. Nature has always featured strongly in this process.

Over time, this interest in nature developed beyond photography. To explore this interest more seriously, she completed a course in Horticulture and Landscape Design from the University of Mumbai. This experience gave her a greater understanding of plants and their relationship with people, interiors and outdoor spaces.

It was from this combination of experiences that The Eco Edit evolved.

A Different Way of Looking at Home

For Vandana, the idea of home extends beyond decoration. The spaces we live in influence how we feel, what we notice and how connected we are to our surroundings. Introducing natural elements into these spaces can create a sense of calm and encourage a greater awareness of the simple beauty around us.
This is one of the central ideas behind The Eco Edit, to make nature a more visible and meaningful part of everyday life.

There is also a more personal dimension to Vandana’s relationship with nature. She believes that spending time with and observing nature encourages us to slow down and become more present. In that quietness, there is an opportunity to connect with ourselves.

Creativity with Consciousness

Sustainability is another important value at the heart of The Eco Edit. Being environmentally conscious does not mean compromising on aesthetics.

The brand seeks to create and curate pieces that are beautiful, useful and thoughtfully made, while encouraging a more conscious approach to gifting and decorating.

Bringing Her Worlds Together

Although The Eco Edit grew alongside her photography, it has become an equally important part of her creative life. Both pursuits come from the same place—a curiosity about the world, an appreciation of beauty and a desire to create something meaningful.

Today, The Eco Edit continues to evolve through this combination of nature, creativity, design and conscious living. It is about bringing nature closer to us. It is an expression of Vandana’s belief that a closer relationship with nature can make our spaces more beautiful, our lives more mindful and, perhaps, bring us a little closer to the Creator.
